Maes Glas: New Store Fit Out

Mealey Electrical Contractors Ltd. were commissioned by Heron Foods to fit out their new store in Maes Glas, Newport. As the principal contractor for the refit of the store we completed the following works to a supplied specification from Heron Foods:

• Installation of electrical systems (freezers, fridges, tills, sockets, fire alarms, bell system, plant, lights and extraction)
• Full mains upgrade
• Installation of new plumbing
• Installation of new partition walls
• Installation of laminate boarding in Heron Foods colours
• Replace the floor with new floor tiles throughout the store
• Installation of air conditioning
• Painting of front of store and back of office area
• Installation of new suspended ceiling

All works was carried out to specification and the project was completed on time for the grand opening of the Store.

We still carry out works on Heron Foods stores across the UK, maintaining a respectful and effective working relationship with their team.

Mealey Electrical Contractors Ltd. were commissioned by Leicester General Hospital to upgrade their kitchen and chiller system.

The works consisted of:

• Upgrade of existing power and control system to the kitchen, food storage and food prep areas
• Removal of the existing Woodley system
• Installation of new cable tray system for the installation of power and control wiring to 22no new room coolers
• Installation of power supplies to condense pumps supplied from BMS Control panel
• Power and control wiring to the plant room area
• Installation of power and controls to three chiller units located adjacent to the plant room
• Power to new BMS control panel, alteration to the existing control to existing air handling units
• Alteration to existing power and lighting
• Installation of tray work for the installation of the Rehau pipe work system to supply the new room cooler

Mealey Electrical Contractors Ltd. were asked by Heron foods to undertake the project for the fit out of the new Store in Willenhall, Coventry. As the principal contractor for the fit out of the store we completed the following works to a supplied specification from Heron Foods:

• A full rip out of the existing building
• Installation of electrical systems (freezers, fridges, tills, sockets, fire alarms, bell system, plant, lights and extraction)
• Installation of new sub mains
• Installation of new plumbing
• Installation of new disabled WC
• Removed existing roller shutter doors and installation of new steel security doors
• Installation of new partition walls
• Fit out of the stores staff room
• Construction and fit out for a new store office
• Installation of laminate boarding in Heron Foods colours
• Replace the floor with new floor tiles throughout the store, staffroom, office and disabled WC
• Installation of air conditioning
• Painting of the front of store and the entire back of store area
• Installation of new suspended ceiling
• Installation of all new freezers in the store
• All works were carried out to specification and the project was delivered on time for the Grand Opening of the store

Mealey Electrical Contractors Ltd. were instructed to carry out small power, lighting and fire alarm refurbishment works on 3 levels of the John Whitehead building at De Montfort University (DMU). The John Whitehead building is one of the main administrative buildings within the university and is a key point for processing of data. The following works were completed:

• Existing installation was modified with new circuits installed
• Existing light fittings were cleaned and re-lamped
• New Dextra light fittings installed as per line drawings
• New Dado trunking installed
• Existing Dado trunking reconfigured for small power and data installations
• Modification of fire alarm system to conform to the new layout
• Site cleared and deep cleaned to aseptic standard before handover back to client

Due to the importance of the building and its regular use, clear communication between ourselves and client was required in order to establish an efficient working pattern. The job was successfully completed on time and to a high standard.

Mealey Electrical Contractors Ltd. were initially contacted by Leicester City football club who were enquiring about the possibility of refurbishing the executive and entertainment area within the stadium. The works carried out included:

• Creating and designing our own self-made proposal for lighting
• Alterations to the existing power supply to ensure compatibility with new lighting system
• Upgrade of fire alarm system
• Installation of new PA system

Mealey Electrical Contractors Ltd. were contacted by the landlord and client to put together an electrical proposal for their warehouse and office space. We put together a design for the lighting, the power requirement and the fire alarm. Once the client was satisfied with the designs, we costed the project based on the design that was put together.
