Mealey Electrical Contractors Ltd. were instructed to carry out small power, lighting and fire alarm refurbishment works on 3 levels of the John Whitehead building at De Montfort University (DMU). The John Whitehead building is one of the main administrative buildings within the university and is a key point for processing of data. The following works were completed:

  • Existing installation was modified with new circuits installed
  • Existing light fittings were cleaned and re-lamped
  • New Dextra light fittings installed as per line drawings
  • New Dado trunking installed
  • Existing Dado trunking reconfigured for small power and data installations
  • Modification of fire alarm system to conform to the new layout
  • Site cleared and deep cleaned to aseptic standard before handover back to client

Due to the importance of the building and its regular use, clear communication between ourselves and client was required in order to establish an efficient working pattern. The job was successfully completed on time and to a high standard.
